No, I don’t me looking at manual E9Xs or the cheap E90, what I mean is what’s been done to it.
At first glance there is nothing awry with this E90, looks like pretty much every other high mileage 13 year old E90. It wasn’t until I read the description that I found this E90 had a weird past:
That’s right, someone decided to repaint this E90 from crimson red to what looks like something similar to this:
Which is confirmed by looking in the truck.
This just begs the question, why would you repaint a car in another factory color when it’d probably be a lot cheaper to just buy a car that color.
Anyways, if you want a repainted E90, for some reason, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

Probably a cheap hand me down.
I hate red cars enough to consider repaints.

Still doesn’t make sense, looks like it was a decent respray as well as you can’t tell from the doors.
Which would mean it’d cost a decent amount to do. So if you hate red that much, why not just sell the car and move on.

D on’t see that very often, though I work with a guy that did . He had a 90's v8 Thunderbird that he loved but ended up tota ling it (oopsie,) so he went out and found another one in a different color and repainted to match. It ended up looking better than his original one. Not something I would probably do but w hatever makes you happy I guess.

When was this? If it was 5 years ago, makes a lot more sense than if it was 1993 and he did it, due to the fact that those aren’t exactly common anymore, let alone common in good shape.

I'm really confused too. BMWs of that gen had good paint all around so probably not sun damaged paint. Could be an off the books collision repair out of pocket where they just went ahead and changed it to a color they like more.

I mean it’s possible, but doesn’t seem likely.

Well it being repainted at all doesn't seem likely.

Damn and it looks like a decent job, I can’t find any of that red...WTF?
One of my good friends owns an automotive training school. When we were all in high school, his father bought is sister a brand new Range Rover (this would have been P38 days) . It was grey, but she wanted it blue...So they repainted it with like 500 miles on the clock!!!
I’m hard against re painting a brand new car for no good reason, but the blue she chose... Estoril! I never admitted it but I wanted that car so bad.

It’s there, but you have to look for it.
That was really the only reason I could think something like this would happen. If I ever have too much money, an E90 M3 is getting painted a shade of green for me.

Or that blue door is from a donor car

Maybe, but the door jambs are all painted nicely to match.

Eh, they're not terrible if you take care of them. Not the cheapest cars to maintain, but reliability isn't awful.

exactly right - 6, maybe 7 years ago. The second one was a Phoenix car so it was in great shape and got a good deal on it so it made sense.

Th e real question is : Who buys a red car with beige interior and wood trim ?
ONLY A LUNATIC WOULD DO THAT !

I think that the “off the books collision repair” may be correct. Here is my proposed scenario. The repair shop had a wrecked blue donor car. Enough body panels were switched that it was easier to paint the remaining red parts blue than the other way around.
What doesn’t make sense would be why you wouldn’t paint the blue donor parts to red when they are off the car. Maybe they had a load of blue paint around and no red?
OK, now that I type it out, it sounds even crazier. Ignore this response as I’m almost certainly wrong. (Always count on Roadkilled for a wrong answer!)

Well it would explain the blue door sills and red trunk sills. Probably the most likely but still un likely.

That makes sense, at that point what you’re looking for might not even exist, so might as well deal with the respray . To me, t his is akin to buying a red car when you wanted a blue one when there was a car with what you wanted already out there.

This is true, but I have seen a few like this. It’s probably because only the sensatec in black and beige were no cost options for US-spec E9Xs.
